International Day of Peace: The Peace Corps

September 21 is International Day of Peace.

This Intermediate English listening activity about The United States Peace Corps will help you to practise your general listening skills.

The Peace Corps celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011. Set up in 1961 to promote peace and mutual understanding, the organisation sends volunteers to developing countries to help meet the need for trained people to help out with essential projects.
